The Deputy of the legitimate National Assembly, Adriana Pichardo, raised her voice for the freedom of women political prisoners.
The parliamentarian denounced that of the 250 political prisoners held hostage by Nicolás Maduro’s regime, around 15 are women.
“Women who are innocent and who, like the Venezuelan and world democrats, all they have done is exercise their right to protest,” she said.
Ms. Pichardo stated that these women were deprived of their liberty for fighting against the crisis that crushes the Venezuelan people and their constitutional rights.
Likewise, she denounced that women have also been raped, tortured and harassed by officials of the Maduro dictatorship while being held prisoner.
“They have been cruel victims of abuses of their human rights, and of course due process,” she stated, reaffirming that she will continue to raise her voice until she achieves the release of all political prisoners.
