This Friday the Deputy to the National Assembly, José Salazar, affirmed that the basic companies (Government owned industrial conglomerates) of Guayana are the clearest example of what has been the destruction of the Venezuelan economy.
“These companies produced, on many occasions, more than 10 billion dollars a year, more than 20% of the country’s non-traditional exports,” said Mr. Salazar in statements offered to AN Radio.
The Venezuelan parliamentarian recalled that these industries produced steel products, aluminum products, ferro-silicon, iron and aluminum ores and all those resources that could be industrialized and processed in Guayana.
“They were an example of what ‘oil sowing’ was,” he added. (Investing oil wealth to produce more wealth)
However, the legislator affirmed that what is observed today are companies that are totally paralyzed and abandoned.
“There is no production and worst of all is the social effect that this paralysis and economic destruction has had on more than 30,000 direct workers and more than 100,000 indirect workers,” he concluded.
