The Deputy to the National Assembly, María Gabriela Hernández, denounced the serious oil spill registered during the last hours in different beaches in the east of the country caused by an oil spill at the ‘Puerto La Cruz’ refinery.
“Bathers from Lechería, Anzoátegui State, denounced to the Environment Commission of the National Assembly that ‘Los Canales’ and ‘Lido’ beaches have been polluted with oil,” said Dep. Hernandez through her Twitter account.
The parliamentarian specified that this past Thursday the beaches were completely normal. However, on Friday its waters woke up dirty.
Faced with this situation, she demanded that PDVSA offer a solution to what is happening.
For the time being, the beaches of ‘Lido’ and ‘Los Canales’ were closed for a period of 72 hours and the bathers were evacuated after red flags were placed by the state’s security agencies.
